We have attended Sams classes for a couple of years now, and my daughter has enjoyed every minute and looks forward to seeing her every week. Sam has always been so welcoming to us both and made us feel extremely comfortable from the first time we walked into her class (especially for me as I’m a first time mum and has gave me some amazing advice along the way)! Every single class we’ve been to has been full of fun, smiles and laughter – aswell as very educational and stimulating for the little ones. My daughter has loved the different themes every week with all the different songs and we have grown to have an an amazing bond with Sam that we will treasure always.

Sams fun energy, love for each child and gorgeous personality shines through in each class and has brought us so many memories that we will keep with us for life! I highly recommend Sams hartbeeps classes, for a magical experience for your little ones and a safe place for you as parents. Loosing Sam to Dubai feels like loosing a family member, they are going to be lucky to have her Jasmine and Elodie

I took part in Sam’s Hartbeeps classes with my first daughter for a year and I honestly can’t recommend her enough! From the very first week, Sam was so friendly and welcoming, creating such a lovely, inclusive space for both babies and parents. My daughter is naturally quite shy, but Sam always found a gentle, thoughtful way to involve her – never pushy, just perfectly tuned in to what she needed to feel at ease. Each of Sam’s classes are delivered with incredible energy, passion, and care, and it’s clear that Sam puts her heart into every session. Her enthusiasm and warmth not only made every week something to look forward to, but also made me feel genuinely supported as a new mum. The sessions quickly became a highlight of our week and one of my favourite memories of my maternity – I think I got just as much out of the classes as my daughter did! What makes Sam truly stand out is how personal and caring she is – she always felt like a friend I could reach out to for advice and support, not just a class leader. That genuine warmth made such a difference to our experience, and we’ll always be so grateful for it. Thank you so much Sam and we will miss you Jenny and Poppy

Meeting Sam in COVID times as a first time mum walking in with a 4 month old, a friendly face looked back and said welcome find yourself a spot. Nerves running and thoughts of what if he cries and disrupts the class, what if he sleeps all the way through … but none of the mattered. Sam smiled, she laughed, she danced and she waved at all these babies watching by her in awe. Time flew by and it turned into a safe space and this was the first session! Week on week, she continued to teach us songs which become everyday songs in car journeys. Hand actions to dance around the house. Encouraging parents to join in too. I can still sing some of the songs now 4 years on. More terms and classes we attended and we got to meet some amazing characters such as Numas and Dexter cat. Learnt more songs and dance moves, popping the bubbles too. Not only was Sam a Harbeeps Imaginator, she was compassionate, empowering and your biggest supporter. I miss my Hartbeeps days and the joy it brought my son. Thankyou for my memories and although it’s not ever goodbye… it’s see you later alligator, in a while crocodile, bye bye butterfly, see you soon… Amy and Finley

Sensory play is a vital (and fun!) part of early childhood development, engaging children through activities that stimulate at least one of their senses. These senses include touch, sight, hearing, taste, smell, movement, and balance. While it may sound like a complex concept, sensory play is often something parents and babies engage in naturally without realizing it.

Everyday Examples of Sensory Play

You might already be incorporating sensory play into your baby’s day without knowing it. Common activities include:

Splashing in the Bath: The feel of water and the sound it makes are both sensory experiences.
Playing with Raw Materials: Sticks, leaves, sand, and mud provide rich textures and sights.
Tasting New Foods: Exploring different flavours and textures helps develop a child’s palate and understanding of the world.
Finger Painting: A classic activity that engages touch and sight through the feel of paint and the creation of colourful patterns.
These simple activities not only entertain but also help children explore their environment, develop fine and gross motor skills, and enhance cognitive growth.

Creative Ideas for Sensory Play

If you’re looking to expand your child’s sensory experiences, here are some fun and easy ideas:

Playdough: This versatile material can be moulded, squished, and shaped, providing endless tactile exploration.
DIY Sensory Box: Create a sensory box using household items like pasta, rice, sponges, and brushes. This can help children explore different textures and sounds.
Exploring Temperatures: Safely explore the concepts of hot and cold by allowing children to feel ice and warm water. This can be done with supervision to ensure safety.
Food Texture Exploration: Encourage children to touch, smell, and even taste different types of food, such as smooth yogurt, crunchy crackers, or squishy fruit.
Always supervise all these activities to ensure safety.

The Benefits of Sensory Play

As well as being lots of fun, engaging in sensory play has numerous benefits for children, including:

Cognitive Development: It helps build nerve connections in the brain, aiding in complex learning tasks.
Motor Skills Development: Manipulating objects enhances fine and gross motor skills.
Language Development: As children describe what they are experiencing, they develop language and communication skills.
Social Interaction: Group sensory play encourages sharing, cooperation, and social interactions.
Sensory play is a simple yet powerful way to support your baby’s development. By incorporating everyday activities and creative ideas, you can help your little one explore the world around them while fostering essential skills. Remember, the most important thing is to have fun and enjoy the journey of discovery together!
